A quick run-down of some small but useful bits of travel and points news.
Each week, I come across news that isn’t quite big enough for its own story – he’s a round-up of the most recent smaller announcements.
Aether: Behind-the-scenes photos
The team behind Aether, Manchester Airport’s private terminal, has released some behind-the-scenes photos of a shoot with their chef partner, Adam Reid (of The French at The Midland, in Central Manchester). His menu will be used for both outbound and inbound guests.
They promise to reveal the full menu this month. The hope is for something that goes beyond a typical airport lounge.
The private terminal opens on the 4th of November, 2024.
Get £20 off a Nespresso purchase with Amex
Until October 4th, you can get £20 off when you spend £60 with Nespresso. This was visible on my Amex Gold card, not my Platinum or BA Premium Plus.
The offer is for offline or online purchases (at a Nespresso store, they list all the ones where you can use, which appears to be almost every Nespresso store in the UK) or on the Nespresso.com website. It is a one-time offer, so use it once, and it’s gone. The £20 will appear as a statement credit.
Virgin has announced more new flights AND a new codeshare
2025 will see three destinations added to the VA schedule: Riyadh will launch in March 2025; Accra, Ghana, will start in May 2025 and Toronto flights will also begin in March 2025.
The soon-to-be-launched Riyadh Air – which promises flights to 100 destinations – is expected (but not guaranteed) to launch in 2025. It will be the second flag-carrying airline of Saudi Arabia, after the airline Saudia
In Virgin’s words this “lays the foundations for a long-term relationship” which includes codeshare, interlining and potentially a “deeper partnership”.
