For the first time in five years, you can fly BA to Malaysia

BA stopped their KUL flights during the pandemic. They were due to restart back in November 2024, but this launch was delayed. The flights have officially restarted, with a daily overnight service from London Heathrow.

What do we know

Direct flights from Heathrow to Kuala Lumpur started on the 1st April.

BA will fly daily to KUL. Flight number 33 departs from Heathrow at 9:10pm and lands the next day at 5:20pm. The return flight (BA34) takes off at 10:50pm, landing back in Heathrow the next day at 5:35am. These timings continue for the rest of 2025.

The route will be serviced by a 787-9, which means there will be a first class cabin (of 8 seats) and – unfortunately – the old Club World seats. The 787-9 fleet is expected to be retrofitted with the new Club Suite by 2026.

Avios availability for LHR to Kuala Lumpur

At the time of writing, there are a small number of First Class seats available to book using Avios, up to June 2025. Beyond that date, there’s no availability

In Business Class there are a few more dates available upto June, and again after that date there’s nothing visible.

If you’re looking to travel in Economy or Premium Economy then you’re in luck. There’s seats available throughout the next 12months, on almost every date. Grab them while you can.

LHR to HND will go double-daily from the 30th March, served by a three class A350 featuring the new Club Suite. A flight will leave LHR at 9:20am, arriving in Tokyo at 7am the next morning. The second flight of the day will leave LHR at 1:10pm, arriving the next day at 10:55am.

The return flights back to LHR leave at 8:50am and 1:05pm, arriving back in the UK at 4:40pm and 7:55pm.
