Get Radisson VIP status if you have Avanti Platinum

One of the most generous frequent traveller schemes just got even better

Avant’s Club Avanti is an exceptional scheme, both in terms of rewards and the ease with which one can achieve status with them. The rewards have real, tangible value for any traveller, and now they’re giving their Platinum travellers another valuable perk.

Important: This offer from Avanti ends at 23:59 on the 11th June 2025.

What is Club Avanti?

It’s a free-to-join scheme that allows you to earn free travel in First Class or Standard Premium, plus a one-time discount voucher each year. It’s relatively easy to earn status (and perks), as ANY ticket booked under your name (even for passengers travelling with you). The only caveat is that the journeys are on an Avanti train and you book it through their site or app.

I wrote in more detail about how Club Avanti works

What’s the tie-up between Radisson and Club Avanti?

In the spirit of Club Avanti’s simplicity, this new offering is easy to understand and execute. If you have Platinum status with Club Avanti (which means taking 21 or more journeys in a year), then you’ll be given Radisson VIP access.

This gives you a number of perks with Radisson:

  1. A free breakfast for up to two people when you stay with them. IMHO, this is the most valuable perk
  2. 15% off stays when you book direct with Radisson, and 15% off food and drink at participating on-site restaurants.
  3. Free room upgrades. The jury is out on this, as my experience as a Hilton Gold suggests it rarely (never) happens.
  4. Free early check-ins and check-outs.
  5. Priority check-in and a 24-hour contact line.
  6. You also accrue points with Radisson, as you normally would.

To get Radisson Platinum status from Avanti, just visit this link, and then enter your first name, last name, email and your Radisson Rewards number. If you don’t already have an account, it’s free to sign up, and only takes a few minutes.

It is not clear from the terms, the email or the landing page how long you keep Radisson VIP status – I’m going to assume that it’s for a year from when you upgrade your account.

Is the Club Avanti scheme worth it?

Absolutely. It’s free to join, and you can get a standard premium return ticket for free if you take nine journeys in a membership year. The membership year starts the day you sign up, so you might want to wait until your next batch of train bookings.

A journey is a trip on a train, so a return ticket will count as two journeys. If you have a colleague or friend travelling with you, and you book their tickets with yours, then that would be four journeys for two people on a return ticket. You can see how easy it is to get status, and if you’re booking for work, then it should be even easier. You don’t even have to travel – the tickets could be for someone else.

How do you keep track of how many journeys you have and your perks?

When Club Avanti launched, the only way to track your status and progress was via emails from them. This required you to opt in to their emails. For a few months, I didn’t get any updates, and that was because I had opted out of emails. If you opt out of SMS contact you also won’t get platform updates sent to you – which is a godsend at Euston.

Earlier in 2025, they launched a portal for Club Avanti, which made it much easier to keep track of everything. It’s a well-designed page that gives you all the information you need.
