Work will start on three new eateries later this year

Edinburgh is ramping up the good news for 2024. As well as the return of direct flights to Dubai with Emirates (starting in November 2024), and the opening of Starbucks, three new restaurants will be opening soon.

What are the new restaurants?

  • Seoul Bird - A Korean fried chicken joint. This will be their first UK restaurant outside of London. They also have a pop-up in Las Vegas and concessions at the Barclays Center and Citi Fields in NY.
  • Pizza Express - No explanation needed, but this is just their second airport location (the other being Gatwick). That itself became the first Pizza Express to have a breakfast menu.
  • Icons - A sports bar, which promises to celebrate "some of Scotland’s and the world’s greatest sports stars."

The restaurants will be run by ARE (Airport Retail Enterprises). They already manage food locations at most UK airports (Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, Newcastle to name a few).

When will the new Edinburgh Airport restaurants open?

This is a little vague. Building work is expected to start "later this year" (2024) which means avoiding minor disruption during the summer holidays. Given the length of time needed for fit-out, it would be a push to get them ready for 2024, so opening may slip into early 2025.
