10% off Business and Economy class tickets
Qatar are feeling in a generous mood, or they need to shift some tickets. On the back of a 10% off deal with Hilton, there’s a better offer just gone live with Capital On Tap. If you’re looking to book a Qatar flight in the next couple of months, and you’re paying cash, this could be useful.
What’s the Capital On Tap and Qatar offer?
Up to 10% off Business Class or Economy Class flights if you travel from the UK.
Qatar flies from the following UK airports to Doha.
- London (Heathrow and Gatwick)
- Manchester
- Edinburgh
- Birmingham
You can connect to destinations beyond Doha and still get the discount. I have tried this on dummy bookings and it works.
It’s also not clear that you actually need a COT card to get the discount. I was able to get through to the final stage of the booking process without it asking for any proof that I was a cardholder.
The discount does not apply to any surcharges or taxes, so it is not a true 10% discount off the total cost of the flight. It is still possible to find reasonable savings on flights.
Haven’t we seen this offer before?
I wrote yesterday about a similar offer with Hilton. That runs out on the 31st October, whereas this offer with COT runs until the 31st December and you can travel up to the 1st June 2026. That’s a much wider window than the Hilton offer.
Unlike the Hilton offer, you don’t get a chunk of additional Avios (up to 6,000 extra points); however, given how close that offer is to closing, you’re more likely to get value from the Capital On Tap offer.
How do you earn this offer?
You have to book via the dedicated landing page on Qatar Airways website, and use the code COTUK25.
The discount will only be applied to specific classes of tickets. That’s not the cabin class, but rather the type of ticket you buy. This is sometimes called the ticket bucket, booking class or ticket class. It’s not immediately obvious what class you are buying.
The offer is limited to the following ticket classes:
- In Economy, you get 10% off on ticket classes: K, M, L, V, S (Convenience) and N (Classic).
- In Business, you get 10% off on booking classes: D and I (Comfort).
The easiest way to determine if the ticket class will give you the discount is to do a dummy booking. You can see below how the two ticket types have a discount or coupon code icon next to them.

When you then click one of the ticket types, you’ll see the options and prices. In the screenshot below, you can see how one is discounted.

There are also blackout dates where the discount won’t apply. These are just for Economy tickets; there are no blackout dates for Business Class flights.

Why Capital On Tap?
COT have been a sleeper competitor to American Express, and a viable option for businesses looking to earn points from spending. They do not operate personal cards.
Over the last few years, they have been improving their offering.
At first, they only allowed Capital On Tap points to be transferred to British Airways (at a 1:1 rate), which effectively included any other airline that allowed you to transfer BA Avios to them. That’s Qatar, Finnair, Iberia and Aer Lingus.
Now you can transfer to BA, Qatar (added recently) and Radisson. Adding Qatar as a transfer partner wasn’t particularly exciting, as you could already move your BA points to them.
The expectation is that COT will add more transfer partners, and hopefully more airlines. I interviewed Nik Haukohl, their product director, a few months ago, if you’re interested.
