Looking for a new way to get to London City airport?
BA has launched a new offer for those travelling from LCY. Avoid the roads - and technically the underground - by taking an Uber Boat to the dock near the airport, and as long as you have a flight with BA that same day you can enjoy 25% off tickets and a complimentary drink
What's on offer?
25% off a single ticket on the Uber boat to LCY, plus a free hot drink from the onboard cafe when you show your boarding pass. If BA's offer painted the picture of a chilled glass of champagne as you travel down the Thames then you will be disappointed - however a free coffee whilst you sail to the airport is better than nothing.
Where can I join the boat?
There are 24 piers that the Uber Boat stops at, starting at Putney, and ending at Barking Riverside. The Royal Wharf pier for LCY is between North Grenwich and Woolwich in the East zone.
How do I get from the boat to LCY?
You can stay on-brand and get an Uber from the Royal Wharf Pier and LCY which will take around eight minutes, or jump on the DLR which takes fifteen minutes. If you're hand-baggage only and fancy a brisk walk, it's thirty minutes from the pier to LCY.
How often does the boat run?
The Uber Boat runs seven days a week, but with a different timetable based on where you start, and whether you travel East or West. Visit their site for the full timetable.
How do I get the 25% off?
Visit the Flying from London City page on BA.com for more information (scroll down around two third of the page to see the block on the offer). There's a link within there for a dedicated landing page on the Thames Clippers website which helpfully reconfirms the offer. When booking use the code BALCY25 as you get into the checkout process to get your 25% off, and then just show your boarding pass at the onboard cafe to get your free hot drink.
Facilities on the Uber Boat
This is a sleek, modern boat which offers fully enclosed seating (although you can get fresh air at the back of the boat) as well as a cafe, luggage storage facilities and toilets. All boats have accessible facilities, whilst some (not all) have baby changing tables.
