BA launches Jeddah flights with good Avios availability

London Heathrow to Jeddah starts on the 4th of November 2024

BA will fly to two Saudi Arabian cities: the longstanding daily flights to Riyadh and now an almost-daily (six times a week) flight to Jeddah.

When can I book a flight?

Tickets to Jeddah are bookable now, via cash, Avios or a mixture of both. Flights operate on every day of the week except Friday.

Which plane type will fly to Jeddah?

BA expect this to be a four-class 787, which means Avios availability across economy, premium, business class and first class.

What are the flight times to Jeddah?

The outbound (LHR to JED) is an overnight flight, taking off at 8:10pm and arriving into Jeddah at 5:30am. That's a flight time of six hours and twenty minutes. The return flight to LHR takes off at 7:55am, landing into Heathrow at 11:45am, with a total flight time of 6 hours and 50 minutes.

Can I book the Jeddah flight with Avios?

Yes, all cabins are bookable if there are seats available. Looking at the next twelve months, there's availability (for two seats) as follows:

• Economy (World Traveller): 183 dates with outbound availability, 192 with inbound.
• Premium Economy (World Traveller Plus) : 190 dates with outbound availability, 191 with inbound.
• Business (Club World): 190 dates with outbound availability, 187 with inbound.
• First Class 13 dates with outbound availability, 10 with inbound.

Which Business and First seats are on the flight to Jeddah?

British Airways operates two 787 variants that feature first class, the 787-9 and the 787-10. The latter features the new BA club suite, as all of those aircraft were delivered with that seat. The 787-9 features the old - and somewhat dated - club seat. It's not a terrible seat, it's just nowhere near as good as the club suite. BA have said that they plan to upgrade the 787-9 seats starting in early 2025.
