Using Avios Hotels is a great travel hack. You can book a room at almost every hotel on the planet (Over 300,000 are on the site), and you earn 10 Avios for each £ you spend. For short stays, it's a useful way to boost your points, but for longer stays at luxury hotels, you can earn a tonne of Avios.
What is Avios Hotels?
Avios Hotels is a hotel booking website run by Avios. It's effectively the same as Hotels.com, Booking.com, etc., but with a slightly dated interface. You can use the site to either spend Avios on a hotel room or earn points by paying cash for a hotel. It's simple to use and reliable—I've had Avios awarded for every stay that I've booked, although it does say that it can take up to 90 days for them to appear in your account.
In my opinion booking a hotel via Avios Hotels is the most logical way to earn points from a hotel stay.
However, if I'm staying at a Hilton, I'll book directly with the brand because, as a Gold, I get free breakfast. That usually offers more value than the extra points I would get. I will still earn extra Avios on that trip by a) booking it on my BA Amex card and b) using a link in the Avios Estore to get 3 or 4 Avios per pound I spent at Hilton (although they don't include taxes).
How many Avios do you earn for each hotel stay?
For every pound, dollar, or euro you spend on the hotel room, you'll earn 10 Avios points. There's no deduction for taxes, but the points awarded are slightly rounded. I have two upcoming bookings in my account: One has cost me £1,397, and the site says I'll earn 13,975 Avios. A second booking is for £1,231.04, and the Avios due to be awarded are 12,300.
What's the 3,000 bonus Avios offer?
- You must make a booking online or via the Avios Hotels call centre between August 19th and August 31st, 2024.
- Your stay has to be completed before midnight on the 31st of December, 2024, GMT.

Don't forget, the bonus above is on top of the 10 Avios per pound you'll get as standard. As an example:
- I book a single-night stay for £235.
- I'll earn approximately 2,350 Avios as standard
- I'll also earn a bonus of 2,000 Avios from the offer above.
- If I have a BA Amex Premium Plus card I'll also earn approximately 352 Avios (1.5 points per £1 spent)
That would give me 4,702 Avios for a £235 spend.
If I book on Avios Hotels with my BA card do I get extra points?
The BA Amex Premium Plus card rewards you with three points per pound you spend if you're spending it with BA. The charge from Avios Hotels is not via BA, it's the Avios Group, so you only earn 1.5 points per pound you spend.
Can the offer be redeemed more than once?
There's no specific wording on how many times this offer can be used, however the way it's written suggests that it's once per customer.
When will you get your bonus Avios?
The terms do say that the bonus Avios will be awarded in two stages. If your stay completes before the 31st October 2024 then your bonus will be awarded by 2nd December 2024. Stays that complete in November or December 2024 will have the bonus awarded before the 14th February.
