I love Avios Hotels. Their per-room pricing is usually the same as booking elsewhere, but you can earn mountains of points. Best of all, it’s reliable – every single booking I’ve made has resulted in points
What is Avios Hotels?
It’s a website run by BA/IAG that is similar to other hotel aggregators like Hotels.com or Booking.com. In fact the backend is Expedia, so you’re getting access to pretty much every hotel across the World. The price you pay is on par with the other hotel websites, but the key difference is that you earn Avios on every booking.
The standard earning rate is 10 Avios per £1 spent. This is usually the best way to earn Avios via a hotel booking.
What’s the catch with Avios Hotels?
There isn’t really a catch. Book your hotel, wait, and the Avios will land in your account. You might find that another website has a slightly lower cost per night or there’s a room type not listed on Avios Hotels. This is rare but not a catch, it’s more down to inventory. I always check that the price I’m paying is the best, and if I can get that room cheaper elsewhere, I do some mental maths on the value of the Avios I’m about to get. Utilising the Avios Hotels site is one three most important things you can do to earn Avios as a beginner.
What’s on offer?
Until the 24th of February, the earn rate for Avios hotels is doubled to 20 points per £1 spent. If you pay using a credit card, you’ll earn another 1 or 1.5 points per pound as well. That is an astonishing amount of Avios on something that you would probably have paid for anyway.
If you spend £200/night on a 7-night trip, then that would give you 28,000 points direct from Avios, and up to 2,100 extra if you pay via an Avios earning credit card. If you’re planning trips this year, you could earn a wealth of points by booking your hotel rooms early.
How do I opt into this offer?
There’s no need to opt in – just make your booking on Avios Hotels before the 24th of February 2025. The earn rate is automatically increased. You do not need to stay by that date, just to have made the booking.
